The Virtues of Surah Kahf:
The main lesson in Surah Kahf is to stop chasing the beauty and bounties of this temporary world and to stop following materialism for the ultimate reward for a believer is not in this world but in the hereafter. Of the number of benefits one that is more often highlighted is that Surah Kahf recitation protects from the “Fitna of Dajjal”. Fitna of Dajjal is the greatest trial that the Muslim Ummah will face. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) didn’t just advised its recitation for protection against the fitna of Dajjal but to also understand the core message of this chapter and how to deal with the trial and tribulations and how to respond to the fitnas of this world as well as those trials that we are yet to suffer. Fact about Surah Kahf:
- Meaning of “Kahf” is cave, and it tells the story of the Ashab e Kahf “People of the Cave”.
- The people spent almost 309 lunar years in the cave.
- Surah Kahf is the 18th Chapter of the Holy Quran and it consist of 110 verses.
- Surah Kahf was revealed in the city of Makkah.
- It is a very beneficial Surah of the Quran both for its spiritual as well as physical benefits.
Benefits and wazaif of Surah Kahf:
This Surah is firmly believed to be a protection against the Fitna of Dajjal. Therefore, it must be recited regularly, with sincerity and with an aim to understands its meanings and the lesson therein. The following are some of the benefits and wazaif of Surah Kahf:
1. Significance of Surah Kahf on Jumma (Friday):
It is highly recommended to recite Surah Kahf on Friday; the recommended time is in between the sunset on Thursday to sunset on Friday. It is narrated that “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Kaaba).”(Narrated by al-Daarimi, 3407. This hadeeth was classed as Saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6471).
Therefore, it is highly recommended to recite Surah Kahf every Friday to lighten up our lives in this world as well as prepare for the hereafter.
2. Benefits of the first and last 10 ayahs (verses):
A number of Ahadith highlights the importance of the first ten (10) Ayahs (verses). Like the following Sahih Hadith from Muslim Sharif:
Abu Darda (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAW) said, “Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surat al-Kahf will be immune to the False Messiah.”
In another narration, the Prophet said, “From the last ten verses of Surat Kahf.”

One must regularly recite the first and last 10 Ayah (verses) of Surah Kahf for protection against the fitna of Dajjal.
3. Surah Kahf wazifa for marriage:
Regular recitation of Surah Kahf is recommended for every permissible needs and desires, including finding a life companion for marriage.
4. Wazifa for halal Rizq (sustenance):
For those facing hardships in earning sufficient halal rizq are recommended to recite Surah Kahf regularly for eleven (11) days. Allah (S.W.T) will provide halal rizq and increase in his provision from places where one cannot imagine. This wazifa must be performed keeping in view all the conditions of wazifa are fulfilled and with utmost sincerity.
5. Wazifa for protection:
As mentioned earlier, recitation of Surah Kahf is a sure way to protect oneself from the fitna of Dajjal. Surah Kahf is also a vanguard against evil eyes, Jins, and Shaitan. Wazifa for the purpose is to recite Surah Kahf and blow on a vessel carrying drinking water. All family members must drink that water and the remaining water may be may be sprinkled on roof of the house. This will prevent the Afaat (disasters/calamities) from the sky as well as severe diseases and ailments.
6. Surah Kahf during pregnancy and protection against miscarriage:
Recitation of this surah during pregnancy protects woman from miscarriage.
Concluding I must say that Surah Kahf is a very powerful chapter of the Quran. It has numerous benefits besides those mentioned above. Daily recitation and even listening to its recitation brings good tidings, happiness and prosperity to life. The whole quran is a perfect solution to our problems, it is the medicine of all diseases, it is the manual to lead our lives. Therefore, all believing Muslims must not just read and understand the quran for in the hope for solving our problems but also to please our Lord the Almighty Allah (S.W.T).
